Professional Experience

Ivan Tjoe is an experienced litigator who has obtained hundreds of millions of dollars in judgments, verdicts, and settlements for his clients. Mr. Tjoe has acquired broad expertise in all phases of civil litigation. He represents international manufacturers, technology companies, logistics companies, financial institutions, trade associations, screen actors, as well as professional athletes.

Mr. Tjoe's practice focuses on securing maximum results for his clients in a timely and cost-efficient manner. His business litigation practice is focused on international and complex commercial disputes. He represents his clients in state and federal courts prosecuting and defending claims for breach of contract, fraud, false advertising, unfair competition, interference, right of publicity, trade secrets, and intellectual property infringement.

Selected Experience

Technology

  • Has represented Foxconn since 2004 in the United States, Mexico, and Taiwan in numerous contractual, business-to-business tort, and intellectual property disputes. By example, he defended Foxconn against a breach of contract claim by a competitor for millions in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, counseled Foxconn in a potential eight-figure trademark dispute avoiding suit and even appeared in Juarez, Mexico to lead an inspection of production facilities in a patent infringement suit.

Litigation

  • Has represented Korindo and its related entities since 2008 in litigation on both coasts of the United States. He prosecuted contractual and tort claims in excess of $20 million against a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation on behalf of Korindo which was favorably settled.

Sports, Entertainment & Recreation

  • Extricated a former WBC Welterweight champion from a personal service and management contract.
  • Defended “A-List” film and television celebrity couple in a matter involving right of free press.

Other

  • Co-chaired a two-week jury trial in the Los Angeles Superior Court involving claims for breach of contract and fraud. Secured a jury verdict in excess of $7 million for his client, the plaintiff, after years of litigating in Korea and Indonesia.
  • Co-chaired a one-week jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California securing a verdict for his client, the plaintiff.
  • Obtained summary judgment for his client and against the plaintiff in a $10 million business interference claim.
  • Seized millions in assets for his client, the cross-complainant, by way of pre-judgment writ of attachment effectively nullifying plaintiffs’ claims.
  • Extricated a former WBC Welterweight champion from a personal service and management contract.
